About
This collection of three books is about the self-taught Japanese architect Tadao Ando. From a conceptual perspective, this book collection is inspired by Hopscotch's reading direction (Rayuela), a novel by Julio Cortázar. The rhizomatic thought, a philosophical concept developed by Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari
The collection of these books intersects with each other, generating a network of information that encompasses different aspects of Ando's life and works as a totality. Rizoma 0, is referred to the internal thoughts, feelings, and beliefs and shows the religious architecture and spiritual spaces. Rizoma 1, which relates to intimacy and privacy areas, and Rizoma 2, focuses on spaces of exchange with others. Through these categories, Rizoma 0, 1, 2 reflects the importance of the uses given to each piece and how architecture defines human behavior.
Because of the importance of the role of light in architecture, this collection's layout contains paper subtractions, allowing seeing content through pages, such as texts, images, and page numbers and sections.
“I believe that the way people live can be directed a little by architecture.”
